Ir. Ts. Dr. Wong earned his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering in 1999 and a Master’s in Highway and Transport Engineering in 2001 from Universiti Putra Malaysia(UPM) and Doctorate of Philosophy (Engineering) in 2025 from UTAR. He is a registered Professional Engineer with a Practicing Certificate with BEM ;Professional Technologist with MBOT, CIDB Certified Construction Project Manager (CCPM) and HRDC Accredited Trainer. His credentials include Fellowships from The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (F.IEM), Technological Association Malaysia (TAM), ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET), and he is registered as an International Professional Engineer, APEC Engineer, ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer and ASEAN Engineer
Ir. Ts. Dr. Wong has extensive experience in engineering and project management. He began as a Quality Manager and Civil Engineer at Sepakat Setia Perunding Sdn Bhd, managing engineering projects and ensuring ISO compliance. He then took on significant roles managing 5 water concessiona in the water division with Gadang Holdings Berhad in Malaysia and Indonesia. At Kota Menara Ufuk Sdn Bhd and George Kent (Malaysia) Berhad, he managed major wastewater and dam projects, including the construction of the RM645 million Mengkuang Dam Expansion. As Executive Director of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM), he oversaw operations and policies affecting the engineering field. Later, he led Project Management team at SWM Enviro Sdn Bhd, focussing on waste management initiatives. Currently, he is a Assistant Professor at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), engaged in research, teaching and publications, while also participating in engineering standards and accreditation boards.
Dr. Wong has a diverse portfolio of published work in academia and industry. His notable contributions include four articles in WOS and Scopus-indexed journals related to engineering and project management, and two publications on industry standards for CIDB. He authored several book chapters on ESG sustainable and smart manufacturing, Occupational Safety and Health and Building Information Modelling. Dr. Wong also engages a wider audience with several magazine and newspaper articles on Industry 5.0, workplace safety and sustainable construction.
Ir. Ts. Dr. Wong is actively involved in civil and professional societies, especially The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM), where he has held many leadership roles. Ir. Ts. Dr. Wong is elected as the Chairman of IEM Safety in Engineering Special Interest Group (SESIG) for Session 2025-2026. He was formerly the Executive Director for IEM from 2014-2017. He was IEM Council Member from 2021-2024 and IEM Executive Committee for 2022-2024. He had served as the Vice-Chairman of IEM Standing Committee of Information and Publication in 2022-2023 and the Vice-Chairman of IEM Standing on Examination and Qualification in 2023-2024. He served in IEM Journal Editorial Board and IEM Disaster Risk Reduction Advisory Board (DRRAB). Additionally, he was a Council and Executive Committee member of the Technological Association Malaysia (TAM) (2023-2024), having served various roles such as Assistant General Secretary and Vice Chairman of the Selangor branch. Dr. Wong is appointed as the Chairperson of the Faculty Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Committee (STEM) at UTAR for 2024-2026. Dr. Wong is also a Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology and the AETDEW. He supports community and professional development through the UTAR Research Centre on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction.
Ir. Ts. Dr. Wong has received numerous prestigious awards for his contributions to engineering and productivity. He received the SME ICON 2025 Award from Malaysia Service Provider Confederation in 2025. He received the Honorary Member by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations, reflecting his influence on policy in the region. The Malaysia Productivity Corporation recognised him as a Productivity Champion for enhancing productivity standards. In 2023, he won the ASEAN BIM Competition (Favourite Category) and secured third place in the Anugerah BIM JKR Award for his expertise in Building Information Modelling. He also earned the Best Presenter title at the UTAR LKC FES Post Graduate Colloquium and was featured in "Who's Who in Engineering, Malaysia 2022," showcasing his leadership in the field. In 2024, he received UTAR Teaching Excellence Award and UTAR E-Learning Excellence Awards

He is a Board Member on the Accreditation Appeal Board for the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) until 2025 and he is a Panel Assessor for the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) and Engineering Technologist Accreditation Council (ETAC). He assesses candidates for IEM, BEM, and MBOT, for the qualifications of Professional Engineers and Technologists. Additionally, Dr. Wong is a recognized international speaker for organizations in Brunei Cambodia, Vietnam, and Brunei, and his research is published in various formats, influencing engineering communities locally and globally.
